land of the origins of our humanity and Egypt,
a First Aurovillage is taking place...
Impossible
to call upon the imagination of the future without
thinking of Africa and its great aspiration for
rebirth and a new world. Its youth generosity is
expressed in a multitude of artistic, cultural and
social expressions. What lacks is simply the
necessary space to invest its creativity,
inventiveness, its respect for ancestral land, its
aspiration for a more fraternal world. The
Aurovillage intends to be such a place.
The first work of Aurovillage created in 2008: the Circle of
Brotherhood
An exemplary place and a laboratory of possible Africa !
Since 2008 an Aurovillage is on the way in Burkina Faso.
It consists,
in conjunction with the experience of Auroville in India,
to bring
about an international site of experimentation and
exemplary achievements and embodying an overall
evolutionary approach: applied ecology, education,
health, solidarity economy, local Organic food
production cultures and Sahelian heritage, artistic
exchanges, valuing traditional wisdom ... All these
actions are oriented concretely and creatively to Peace,
African and Human Unity and inventing a new future
The creation of a forest as reserve of biodiversity !
The first step is well underway: the creation of a
forest at the heart of a landlocked Sahelian region in
highly degraded soils. This forest is created to become
the basis of a sustainable lifestyle, a reserve of local
biodiversity and an exemplary and replicable
achievement. To meet this challenge, original
permaculture techniques are being used. Fifteen thousand
of plants are being planted this year 2010 with 150 000
plants planned for 2015.
Dynamics of collective intelligence open to a new future
!
At the heart of Aurovillage, the Movement of the "
Sénéwé popular education boosts some dynamics of
collective intelligence and strategy to mobilize all
forms of resources and creativity to make a difference
and reverse the inevitability of scarcity and poverty.
Concrete Social and economic achievements !
Hundreds of farmers-producers from nine villages,
organized in the Federation, get some organic production
supports for fair trade: fonio, soybeans.... some
dynamics of economic and social change around the
micro-credit, creating a local currency and many
income-generating activities have been undertaken.
A tribute to African cultures and spiritualities !
The Aurovillage, though deeply committed in the fight
against poverty, is also a place dedicated to the great
figures of African and universal humanism, valuing the
past and the heritage of the Sahel. Two major monuments
pay tribute to the richness of African cultures and
spiritualities; from 2012, the construction of a 18
meters high pyramid, which embodies exactly the exactly
the proportions of that of
khéops
in Egypt!
A
place to relax and find in oneself the springs of change
!
Aurovillage, located in the savannah, in a protected
ecological environment, is also a place of healing and
regeneration. Earth-made houses, gardens and a botanical
park, a protected fauna and flora, the positive energy
of the area enables inner feeling and meditation, allow
to get accustomed to African ancestral wisdom of Sufism,
and non-dogmatic universalist spirituality.
A
place of artistic expression for human unity and the
healing
of the earth ! An
International Arts Centre will allow African and world
artists to meet around Aurovillage values: peace,
ecology and harmony with the nature, dialogue between
cultures and spiritualities, African and human unity,
evolution of consciousness and aspiration to another
future. Artists and visual art workshops will make
Aurovillage a permanent exhibition place
Internships, training, solidarity visits: practical
discoveries !
Discover the compost terra preta, get involve in what
permaculture is, taking part to building with earth,
participate in workshops on Sénéwé social creativity,
plant and keep trees safe, restore soil, growing
medicinal plants, spinning and weaving organic cotton
with the village women, introduce new educational
practice, meditate and relax, participate in the
creation of a reserve ostrich ...
Aurovillage, in the heart of the savannah offers a wide
range of “ Transformactive" activities !
The founders of Aurovillage - Hassan Aslafy and
Rachel Revesz, participate in the sub-Saharian
Africa on current development issues through the NGO
Orange Bleue Afrique, established in Year
2000. They look forward to implement an integral
evolutionary approach which includes all dimensions
of the individual and its environment in order to
enable the individual to become an actor aware of
his personal and collective destiny. A changing
destiny in which it is essential that every people
becomes participants and creators. We share the
ideal of Auroville Human Unity and wish to
contribute to its expansion in Africa and Maghreb
through concrete and exemplary achievements.
