The Aurovillage is already an activity incubator and a focal point. The future permaculture agro-ecology training centre will regularly meet 400 fonio producers and organic soybeans and their federation. Cotton spinning craft workshop will take place and a drying unit of  neem (Azadirachta indica). The first houses of the camp will emerge in the coming weeks.  

Fonio

Fonio is an ancient African cereal. Since 2006 the organic fair production fonio is taking place in the area of the Aurovillage by the NGO Orange Bleue Africa and the French Gaia. Fonio is found in France and Belgium organic shops.

Soybeans and tofu

Since 2008 experiments for the production of  organic soy and tofu started. Now some fifty producers are involved in the production of soybean and the culture of fonio. This soy is used in Ouagadougou as tofu.

Neem

the Neem tree is native to India and is found  everywhere in West Africa. Its benefits are large; natural insecticide, fertilizer, it is  also used in Ayurvedic medicine and cosmetics ... Thousands of neem trees are being planted in Aurovillage and will surely enable groups of village women, to export products of it and develop new  income generating activities from the harvesting and drying of its products.

Coton

In 2009, on the present Aurovillage site, a production of organic cotton was undertaken, aiming to provide women with a small craft from  weaving bags and fair trade objects.

We had to find some Old women in the town of Nouna to do the spinning and weaving of cotton. From 2010 a training on cotton spinning and weaving workshop will take place for the craft of Aurovillage
